The goal was to create a home that was unique and interesting but relaxed and livable to fit the client’s lifestyle. They wanted things to have an international Balinese-type flair but also a modern touch with clean lines. The special element that set the design into motion was hand­painted Moroccan tiles on the dining room and kitchen walls. Exotic tile and bold wallpaper were the Cormiers’ starting points; everything else had to fit around those elements without feeling like a resort. With clean-lined cabinets, plain white countertops, and hints of different woods, the home strikes a balance between easy beachy Balinese and low-key modern that’s both beautiful and livable.
